My Culinary Experience

I've worked in cafés preparing crêpes and drinks, as well as behind the counter as the manager at a popular food cart flipping eggs for smiles. I started in my own humble kitchen whipping up dinner and brunch party favorites for my college friends, and have since taken my hobby to a new professional level.

My Three Favorite Ingredients

pears, tarragon and thyme

I had my 35th birthday brunch for 20+ people and Alex prepared an amazing spread. From the beginning, he worked with me to come up with a great menu. He made it easy for me to enjoy my party! Thank you!

Alex was fantastic! He cooked Easter Brunch for our family and it was delicious. From the bellinis and arugula salad to the frittata, maple glazed bacon, and bourbon donuts, the entire meal was first-class! Would hire him again in a heartbeat!

We had an AMAZING brunch with Alex!!! The food was fantastic and he was super friendly and even happily put up with my 3.5 year old's incessant questions about everything he cooked. Would highly recommend him!

It was lovely. We didn't have to do anything and the food was terrific. I was pleased with the menu process and communication beforehand and even more pleased to meet Alex. He was friendly and also knew when to leave us to eat and chat. We've done this a few times and he's my favorite!

For our one year anniversary I got my husband a brunch cooking lesson with Chef Alex. It was a terrific experience and one that I highly recommend. Chef Alex was extremely professional and informative, and engaged us in the cooking experience. We learned lots of new interesting cooking techniques, including the best way to cut pears and asparagus, how to make donuts, and the recipe for a delicious hot toddy. After the lesson we devoured the unbelievably delicious food we had just prepared, while Chef Alex cleaned up in the kitchen. We prepared the winter warming menu and each dish was absolutely terrific. I am still thinking about the bacon and frittata!! All in all a fun and delicious experience.

Alexander came in and cooked us breakfast for lunch. He was super personable, friendly and easy to work with (responded to all messages right away). Best of all his food was amazing. I would definitely recommend him for all things breakfast!

I'll start by saying that everything was excellent. The sparkling water with strawberry and thyme was delicious - definitely a nice touch, and the presentation was great.

The arugula salad came out quite well - the grapefruit was actually a perfect complement to the arugula - a lot of breakfast salads were too sweet, but this had a nice balance (especially with the tang added by the red onion). The banh mi chicken salad was definitely tasty, but it is the only thing that didn't really jump out in my mind. I don't even know whether it could have been improved in any way; the rest of the meal was just so excellent that this paled a touch by comparison.

The babka, however, was pretty much to die for. A bit of a chocolate overload, but only a touch. And the fresh raspberries were perfect.

Overall, masterfully executed.

When you book The Breakfast Bachelor...You BOOK Breakfast Bachelor. Alex's easy-going personality, on top of his food, is what makes him such a pleasure to have in the kitchen. One of his dishes, a Banh-Mi Inspired Chicken Salad (which knowing the avid Vietnamese sandwich eater I am, I was reluctant to the idea) was a recreation that had me going for seconds...and thirds. The BB took all of best things I loved about the traditional sandwich and put them on one plate. When I asked him about how he came up with dish, he simply answered, "I wanted to make it brunchy--and light." And that is exactly what came through.
Conclusion. If you are in for some wholesome, light, experimental cuisine, and don't mind a smiling, bubbly chef with character, then Breakfast Bachelor is the way to go.

We arranged for a Mother's Day brunch at our place with our family, and were lucky enough to have Alex involved in the event. We couldn't have been more pleased. Everything was amazing - creative tasty food that was wonderfully presented made the event a huge success.

What a perfect Mother's Day Brunch! Alex was a gem! The food was delicious....tomato cucumber bloody marys, spinach and tarragon fritatta, smashed rosemary potatoes, citrus and mint salad, and vegan chocolate chip pancakes for the kids. (Can Alex move in with us?) Wonderful job! Thank you!!!
