My Cooking Style

From simple to elegant, I create custom menus using the freshest ingredients and making everything from scratch. Having lived in Spain for a year, Germany for four years, with summers in Korea, in addition to living in many different states, I have a deeply rooted passion for foods from all regions of the world, and cook a wide spectrum of delicious cuisines drawing from these experiences.

I want to highlight fresh, seasonal food, and love to put a twist on classic dishes, recalling your favorite dish, while introducing new flavors to your palate.

PLEASE NOTE: I have a minimum price of $500 (all in, flat rate), and for special occasions, I will cook for couples for $350. For catering parties or offices, the rate ranges from $15-75 per person.

My specialized Chef's Table Dinner and Dim Sum Fantasy Dinner are from $100-150 per person. We offer wine pairings and sommeliers for events at an additional cost as well.

My Culinary Experience

Some of my earliest childhood memories are with my mother in the kitchen. As the youngest of three children, I was home with my mother as she prepared everyone's meals for the day. My father also made a point to be home for family dinner every night, and they both instilled in me a great passion and value in food and family from a very young age.

I lived in Germany for 4 years, during which time my mother would travel across Europe to take cooking classes. She would return home inspired and pass on her experience and knowledge to me, further developing and encouraging my passion for distinctive foods and cuisine.

I subsequently started experimenting and honing my culinary skills for my high school girlfriend. This eventually led to a focused devotion in cooking and serving, and I began to take over kitchens at parties, family gatherings and bbqs everywhere I went.

As a small business entrepreneur for over a decade, I was able to transform this passion into a business, and launched my own private chef / specialized catering / pop-up restaurant company Yummy Eats in 2011.

Since then, I have been catering for parties large and small, from Sweet Sixteens to Engagement Parties, cooking hot lunches for offices, teaching cooking classes, making special romantic dinners, and hosting unique pop-up restaurant events throughout NYC.

I am passionate and versatile, and able to accommodate the most discriminating aesthetic and dietary restriction. I provide flavor with flair, and look forward to making your event a delectable success!

Joseph was a pleasure to work with! I threw a 40th birthday party for my husband. We love food and wanted it to be an experience rather than just a catered dinner. He guided me in making a menu that was exactly what we were looking to do. The food was delicious, interesting and beautiful. Our friends now want to do this once a month! More fun and relaxed than going out to a restaurant. And Joseph was so accomodating, lovely and a joy to work with. We would absolutely work with him again!

Joseph: choosing you to prepare Cory's 35th birthday dinner for our family was one of my all-time great decisions! Every bite of the food you prepared -- from sushi and other special Asian appetizers, to entrees and salads and, most magnificently, handmade-on-the-spot Asian wonton desserts -- was not only perfectly delicious but elegantly presented and served. More than that, your professionalism and engagement made the whole event interesting, easy and relaxed; my family wants you back! We would not hesitate to work with you again any time or place. My family just had a 97th birthday party for our mother and we hired Joseph Y. as our chef. It could not have gone any better. Joseph was extremely personable and cooked a wonderful meal. He explained all of the dishes when he brought each one out. The timing and presentation were perfect. It was not rushed at all and he checked with us to make sure everything went as we wanted. The Korean fried chicken was as good as the reviews had said. The cellophane noodles with veggies was superb. The beef wrapped in lettuce was delicious. When my mother realized a chef was in the house to cook for us,(it was a surprise) Joseph sat by her side and introduced himself, explaining the upcoming meal. We enjoyed having him sit with us during dessert and learning more about him and his interests. We highly recommend Joseph for his cooking abilities and his charming personality.

I can't say enough good things about our experience in working with Joseph. From pre-planning through execution, he made a special occasion (97th birthday for my mother) super special and memorable. It all came together flawlessly. Joseph is so easy to work with and very flexible and accommodating to varied dietary needs. His presentation of the food and the flavors and tenderness of the meats (as testified by all the oohs and ahs from the guests) as well as his wonderful personality and warmth endeared Joseph to all. There were generous amounts of food so no one left hungry, and doggie bags were divided up so we all could have one more taste the next day! Joseph clearly enjoys what he does. I had seen previous reviews and noted that his fried chicken was recommended. I made sure to order it and it did not disappoint--everyone raved. In summary, I would not hesitate to have him for any occasion where you are looking for something and someone very special.

We enjoyed Chef Joseph and his wonderful assistant. They were so professional, punctual and the cooking was phenomenal. The event was for my daughter's Sweet 16 Party and everybody enjoyed the food he prepared. The portions were generous and everyone was amazed at the gorgeous food he made. The fancy appetizers were the highlight of the evening. My daughter said they were heavenly! Chef Joseph made the entire process so easy and painless, I felt like I could just sit back and relax and let him take over. Thanks to Joseph, a small political fundraiser we held was a tremendous success. I highly recommend booking Joseph for events. We had a very short time to arrange the event and as soon I spoke with Joseph, I instantly had confidence in his talent to prepare delicious food as well as his organizational skills.

Planning an event for 25 people within 7 days is tricky; there are too many decisions and too many moving parts, not too mention that the event space is a completely empty home/kitchen. However, Joseph was able to guide us through the process, simplifying the details and asking the right questions. He presented a highly inventive menu selection for passed hors d'ouevres and small plates. In addition, he paired fantastic wine. We were able to stay within our budget, and what's more, the guests were raving about the food and were able to bring some extras home.
