When we were building our list, we had to test the knives out for a couple of factors. These included the material of the handle, the price, the length of the knife, and of course, its sharpness. We tested out a lot of Cutco’s paring knives and ended up narrowing it down to three. These are all that we consider to be the best of the best, especially when it comes to the brand itself.

What Makes A Cutco Knife Suitable For Your Exact Needs?

  • How will you use your knife – The task is there to dictate the shape of the blade. The same thing also dictates its grind. There are plenty of grinds out there when it comes to choosing a knife, but there are three common ones: The hollow grind, the convex grind, and the flat grind. For chef’s knives, convex grinds are ideal as they’re excellent for edged tools that require chopping food, and for larger blades. Hollow grinds are good too as they are great for slicing.
  • Pick a blade with agility – Chef’s knives with sharper and agile blades, which can squeeze itself into tighter corners and handle curves when paring and peeling, are much more important compared to the knife’s balance and weight. This is why the blade of a good paring knife, or any other knife, really, must be flexible enough. This lets it maneuver itself into tight spots (like tomato cores), and for dealing with curves when paring and peeling fruit or vegetables.
  • A good grip – You should be able to control the blade, no matter if you’re trimming, slicing, or peeling. After Cutco obtains your knives in their headquarters (located in Olean, NY) they’ll be in charge of sharpening the blades, polishing the handles, and returning the knives back to their clients. This whole process takes at least one to two weeks. It all depends on how many knives you send them, or how dull they are. And once you receive back your knives, they’ll look as good as the day you purchased them!
