Bread Cloches and What They’re Used For

Baking bread is one of the easiest forms of cooking your own food. Now, some people can be quiet intimidated by baking your own bread, but fear not, we’re going to go over every little aspect and hope to shed some light on any concerns that you may have.

First off, what is a bread cloche?

The bread cloche is a uniquely shaped baking pot that is used to close in the steam from baking that will create a nice, crispy crust on your bread from your bread machine. It is similar to the effects that are produced from the old school brick ovens that are still used in London today. One of the healthiest tactics used in bread baking is using whole grain ingredients. White bread has a very large lack of ingredients and all other forms of bread actually retain these nutrients, but to each their own right?

Other Add Ons Crust Extravaganza

The best thing about baking in bread cloches is how the bread crust tastes afterward. We cannot tell you how many times we have baked in a loaf in a cloche and produced the most tasteful bread that we have ever had the pleasure of eating. There are only a few things that you need to achieve the exact results that we did: whole wheat flour (white), salt, sugar, yeast, and warm water. This is one of the best mixtures for doughy goodness. One of our favorite add ons is the jalapeno cheddar cheese option. This produces one of the best cheese sandwiches known to man (our opinion, but still very good). This can also attribute to your eggs in the morning and give you one of the tastiest breakfasts you’ve ever had.

Not only is the best bread cloche an amazing tool for baking bread, but it can also be used for many other things as well. One of the other meals it’s great at making is roast chicken. A sizzling, tasteful beauty is what the end result is. Not only that, but you can also make good pork. Now, most of us in the kitchen make our pizza crust out of white bread. However, whole wheat pizza crust is probably your best bet here as it is healthy and delicious. It comes out great when cooked in a pizza oven!

Final Things To Consider

Using your bread cloche can be a fun way to make your own unique and healthy form of bread. However you need to understand a few things. For one, flour is the most important ingredient. Flour can manipulate the color and size of your bread. Rye and whole grain flour, for instance, can make a darker and more dense loaf. There is protein in wheat flour as well. When it becomes wet, that turns into gluten, which makes your bread more chewy. Several types of beans are ground into flours and can be added into your bread cloche in order to create a more crunchy aspect to your bread – which we personally love!

All in all, most bread recipes only take about 25 minutes total, and all you have to do is wait for the bread to rise and cool before you can eat it.
