Ideas for Your Summer Party
The Fourth of July is one holiday that we all look forward to. Celebrate with a backyard barbeque, a day at the beach, or watching fireworks. Just be sure to have some fun Fourth of July desserts and treats for the kids. Here are some ideas and recipes for Fourth of July treats to serve at your party or to bring to a pot luck. These desserts and treats are especially nice for the summer because they don’t require any baking.
Fourth of July Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods
A sweet and salty Fourth of July treat that looks festive on your party table. Melt chocolate chips in a mug in the microwave. You can use dark or milk chocolate. I like to use white chocolate chips. Use caution, this can get very hot. Spread red, white and blue sprinkles and candies onto a sheet of wax paper. Dip one end of the large pretzel rods into the melted chocolate to coat, about halfway up. Quickly roll the chocolate end of the pretzel in the sprinkles. Place on another sheet of wax paper to harden. Serve in decorative cups, with the chocolate ends up. These remind me of Fourth of July sparklers.
Fourth of July Rice Crispy Treats
This is a simple treat to create for a Fourth of July party. Just make Rice Krispie treats according to directions on the Kellogg’s Rice Krispie’s box. Instead of just spreading in the pan and cutting the treats with a knife, use star shaped cookie cutters. Then decorate with red, white and blue sprinkles.
Red, White and Blue Fruit Parfait Dessert
Another easy to prepare Fourth of July dessert. Simply layer whipped cream, cut strawberries, and fresh blueberries in a clear dessert dish or champagne glass. Keep layering to fill dish. Top with a dollop of whipped cream. Add small flag picks for decoration. This is a refreshing dessert for a hot 4th of July.
These no-bake desserts and treats are easy to prepare. Let the kids help while you get other menu items prepared for your Fourth of July bash. Just be sure to grab one of these treats for yourself, they will be gone in no time.
