Tostitos Artisan Recipes Roasted Garlic and Black Bean Tortilla Chips

I’m determined to drop some weight this year (I’m making an effort to keep up with my wife, who has been working out several times each week) and, as a result of that, have cut back drastically on junk food like chips.

However, one of my coworkers brought in chips and dips as a snack earlier this week. And, even though I tried to resist them, I ended up walking over there and at least giving the chips a try (I did, however, skip the dip). Unfortunately for me, I discovered the chips he brought in, Tostitos Artisan Recipes Roasted Garlic and Black Bean Tortilla Chips, were very hard to resist after trying just one.

I’m going to take a minute to explain I’m not a huge tortilla chip fan. I don’t usually have a lot of dips or cheese sauce in our house and found, unlike most other chips, tortilla chips aren’t that great when they are eaten plain. The typical tortilla chip is almost tasteless when eaten by itself (at least when compared to other snacks).

That is what makes this particular chip so different and so addicting.

When I took some of these chips, I didn’t read the bag closely and figured they would be like every other one. Instead, I was surprised when they offered a flavor that was both unexpected and enjoyable.

Truth be told, I really don’t know what the black bean part of the chip brings to the table because I couldn’t taste anything that I could say with any certainty was the bean. However, as far as the garlic taste was concerned, I was really impressed.

Many chips will attempt to use garlic and get carried away to the point the garlic is too strong. These chips, however, got it just right. The garlic adds a kick but is still somewhat subtle so it isn’t overpowering.

I like this because, if I decided to use some sort of dip or cheese on the chips, it would blend in rather than affect the taste of that dip.

I also loved the fact I got that flavor with a tortilla chip rather than a plain potato chip both because tortilla chips are much crunchier and aren’t nearly as greasy as regular potato chips.

As a result, despite what I said before about cutting back on the junk food in my house, I think I will be looking for these at the store so I can buy a bag.
