Moving from chicken dishes, pork dishes and meat dishes each night can get boring. Searching for and locating new recipes with different flavors isn’t something we all have time for. We all have busy schedules, so we want an easy recipe that still tastes great. Here is a new recipe for Spicy Asian Pork Chops that is extremely easy, but has some different flavors that will both enlighten your taste buds and keep your guests satisfied throughout the meal.
Spicy Asian Pork Chops have a lot of flavor and it is recipe that is quite unique with different flavors. You have the opportunity to create the dish as spicy as you would like by choosing the amount of hot sauce you want to include in the dish. The ingredients for the dish also include a five-spice powder that you can pick up in the Asian section of most grocery stores. The five-spice powder is often used as a seasoning in Chinese cuisine. The powder incorporates the flavors of sweet, savory, bitter, sour and salty all within one seasoning and it adds great flavor to any Asian recipe.
- 4 Pork loin chops (bone in)- between ½ and ¼ inch thick
- 1 ½ cups of apricot marmalade or apricot jam
- ¼ cup of low sodium soy sauce
- 2 Tablespoons of five-spice powder
- 3 Tablespoons of hot sauce (Tapatio)
- Salt and Pepper
Prepare pork chops for grilling. Rinse the pork chops in water and place them on a plate. Season with salt and pepper and let stand for at least five minutes in order for the pork to be room temperature. Fire up the grill to medium heat.
Next, prepare basting sauce in a small bowl. Add 1-½ cups of the apricot marmalade and the low sodium soy sauce to the bowl and mix. Then add in the 2 tablespoons of five-spice powder along with the 3 tablespoons of hot sauce. If you prefer, you can add another tablespoon or two if you really want your pork chops to be extra spicy.
Put the pork chops on the grill for 1 minute each side. Then turn the meat often and baste the pork chops with a heavy coating of the basting sauce each time the pork is turned. (Turn the pork chops every minute of cooking). Cook the pork chops until they are least medium and depending upon how thick the pork chops are, this should take anywhere between 10 to 15 minutes at medium heat.
Once the pork chops are cooked thoroughly they are ready to serve.
What Side Dish Should I Serve With This Recipe?
These pork chops certainly have an Asian flair and an excellent salad to serve with this dish would be edamame salad. Edamame salad is a healthy and tasty side dish that is both easy to make and provides great color and depth to any summer table. It is also extremely healthy and low in fat.
You could also consider a Thai peanut noodle salad that would include pasta, pea pods, red pepper, cooked pasta, a little lime juice, soy sauce and some peanuts. This dish ,with its great crunch and flavor, would also be an excellent side dish for the spicy pork chops.
Another option is an Asian salad with napa cabbage, sliced green onions, slivered almonds, sesame seeds, crushed ramen noodles, vegetable oil, vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce. This salad would be a great compliment to these spicy pork chops. Enjoy!
