There never seems to be enough counter space even in the most spacious kitchens. Some times you may need more counter space like when you are having a dinner party or when you are baking Christmas cookies. It may be your year to host the company party and you need some extra temporary counter space. For the times when you need more counter space there are some things you can do to give your kitchen more counter space.
For making more counter space you can buy a large wooden or plastic cutting board that will fit over your sink. Then for those times when you need more counter space you can put your large plastic or wooden cutting board over the sink and it will give you more counter space. Then when you need the sink you can take the large cutting board and put in on the side out of the way.
An ironing board can make a good amount of temporary counter space. Cover the ironing board with plastic or a bunch of flat pans and you can give your kitchen some needed extra counter space that can be removed when you don’t need it. An ironing board can be rocky so it is best to stick it against a wall if you can.
If the drawers in your kitchen are strong enough you can pull the drawers out and put a cookie sheet on top of the open drawer to make more counter space. If you are baking Christmas cookies you can place your cookies on the cookie trays on the open drawers. You would be surprised how handy your open kitchen drawers can be for those times when you are having a cookie baking party.
TV trays or card tables can be set up to make more counter space. You can cover the TV trays or card tables with a plastic table covering or with cookie trays. These can be moved where you want them to be.
Many kitchens are made for every day cooking. You wouldn’t want to have too much counter space all of the time since it does take a lot of room. You can make temporary counter space for those times when you need the extra counter space like when you are having a cookie baking party or for when you are hosting the annual Christmas party at your house.
